Description: This artist was my mothers contemporary. This image of the Fates is also based on folkart, Here you see the Fates more approchable then my mothers abstract idea.

We see the Spinners here, as one creates the spool of life thread, the middle one holds the thread ever so gently, the third one holding a pair of sheers. She is the one who cuts the thread of life when we are done with our allotted time.

All three women are dressed in beautiful decorated gowns, the first one with green boughs  on her skirt, the second one a big blooming flower, the third one just the russett brown, the color of the earth, but a bird in flight on her chest, as the spirit flies off leaving the brown earth behind.
